Arturo Segura’s Finca Sol Colibrí, nestled in the gorgeous area of Santa María de Dota, Costa Rica, epitomizes the profound impact of regenerative agriculture. For over two decades, Arturo has been a pioneer in organic coffee farming, and his farm is distinguished as the only USDA- and EU-certified organic coffee operation in the area. Despite the challenges and costs associated with maintaining such certifications, Arturo’s commitment to organic principles remains steadfast.

This year, instead of renewing his USDA certification, Arturo opted for a comprehensive soil analysis by UCR University to validate the efficacy of his organic practices. This decision was driven by a desire to deepen his understanding of soil health and the effectiveness of his regenerative methods. The results were telling: Finca Sol Colibrí’s soil analysis came back clean and clear of any agrochemical use! Additionally, after 65 exhaustive tests, the farm was awarded the Regenified Tier 5 certification, the highest level of recognition for regenerative practices. This accolade underscores Sol Colibrí’s exemplary efforts in enhancing soil health, restoring ecosystem functions, and promoting biodiversity.
